I purchased a second hand above ground pool last summer but unfortunately ran out of good weather before it could be used. It has been sat all winter half filled and obviously has become somewhat 'green.' What I need is a list of chemicals (preferably including quantities) which I will need to purchase for the coming season. I understand that I will initially need to 'shock' the pool first. Is this right?

I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can provide this information or failing that anyone who could point me in the direction as to where I could find a user friendly instruction manual for keeping pools. All the literature I have found so far appears to be aimed at people who already know what they are doing!!!

Oh, by the way, the pool is 20' x 12' oval. (4' deep)

Thanks

Hi Sue

You certainly do need to shock your pool. If you have not used chemicals before the best option would be to go for a Chemical Starter Pack this will give you everything that you need to start and run your pool for about 6 weeks. This can be ordered on line see http://ukpoolstore.co.uk/acatalog/ukpoolstore-swimming-pool-chlorine-economy-chemicals.html, it may be as well to order extra Shock Chlorine and Stabilised Chlorine (UKPOOLSTORE) this should then see you through the season. There is also a information book with the chemical starter pack.

Hope this helps, but if you have any further questions p[lease do not hesitate to call us.

All the best.
