Hi
Could you help on this subject, i have read in one of your posts that to make the cove to use 8 to 1 lean mix of sand and cement , are you usng this mix dry or adding water to it ? and can you fit the liner and fill with water straight away or is it best to wait until the cenent has dryed. I am also going to compact the earth with a hired compactor then cover with a ground cloth and then carpet underlay and then another ground cloth any thoughts on this would be hepfull

Mant thanks.

Rog :)

The subject of "coving" within above ground swimming pools remains a bit of a grey area.

First and foremost, I would check with the retailer or supplier who sold you the pool. Some manufacturers won't honour the warranty on the pool if "modifications" are made to the original design.

If you get the go-ahead, only use a soft sand such as building sand. I have seen sharp sand pierce liners before.

Technically, you don't even need to use cement, as the water pressure will compact the sand, but if you do, only use a weak mixture.

Lastly, some retailer and suppliers can actually supply pre-made coving that is designed for your pool, it can be hard to get hold of, and not all manufacturers supply it, but this is also an option. :)
