Buying a Hot Tub is certainly becoming tricky. The market is flooded with hundreds of makes and models, varying in price and specification.
Generally, as with anything in life, you only get what you pay for, and I am confident in saying that the more you spend, the better quality Hot Tub you will recieve.
This principle applies for the equipment within the spa, but luckily, most of the pumps, blowers, jets etc all come from only a couple of manufacturers worldwide, so a lot of spas on the market may vary greatly in price, but the equipment is fairly standard.
If I were you, I would concentrate on which design of Hot Tub best suits your needs. Think of how many people are likely to use it at one time, the space you have available etc.
Other things to look for when buying a Hot Tub are -
1) Access - does the Hot Tub provide a safe way to enter the spa, ie a raised seat or internal step?
2) Will you recieve a Chemical Pack, and will you recieve tuition on how to maintain your Hot Tub and the water in it?
3) What kind of back-up will the retailer provide, what will they do if the Hot Tub breaks down? Do they have an in-depth knowledge of the Hot Tubs they sell?
4) Does the retailer hold spares for the Hot Tub?
5) What are the warranties on the Hot Tub shell, structure and equipment?
I hope the above points are useful. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't mention that we sell Beachcomber Hot Tubs :D
We as a company have sold many hundreds of Hot Tubs over the past 15 years, from over 6 different suppliers, so if you would like to ask any further questions, or would like some advice on a particular brand of Hot Tub, please email me at james@ukpoolstore.co.uk
