We have enjoyed our Intex Easyset 15' pool for our first year, learning about chemicals, filters and covers the hard way but we love it.

I want to extend the time we can use the pool and am wanting to add heating to it. I thought a Electro 6kW heater would be optimal but I read that a heat pump can be good. I would appreciate advice on this matter - what are the pro's & con's, sizing, costs and weight of units?

Our pool is quite shaded (70%), has a solar cover and, unheated, is useable (just) from April to Oct - we currently live in a nice, warm climate - today it's only 19deg C.

Hi,

A 3kw heater will be ok for your 10' pool, but really wouldn't be man enough to heat a 15' pool.

I would certainly go for the 6kw heater, which should fit directly onto your existing pipework, bearing in mind that you will need a 24 amp electrical supply to run the heater. Aside from running backwards and forwards with kettles of boiling water  , I see this as your only option as the pipework currently on your pool certainly won't be able to take heating from anything bigger.

Hope this helps

Thanks James for your advice,
I am about to order the 6kW heater (do you have any in stock?) but just wanted to ensure that it comes with hose fittings to securely connect the existing pump outlet hose onto the heater and then securely connect the heater outlet onto the hose returning the filtered, heated water back to the pool.

Will I need to cut the hose in 2 to fit the heater in the middle and how do I connect the flexible hose rough ends to the heater or should I get another length of hose which has smooth ends at each end to ensure leak proof connections?

Hi,

The 6kw Heater is generally in stock and we will always endevour to deliver next day where possible. The heater comes with 2 x hose connectors. We sell the replacement hose as well, you will find it here -

I would suggest getting some new hose so as to ensure that the connections to the heater are secured properly ie flush and with jubilee clips.

Just to let you know, the 6kw heater will require a 24amp supply.

James :)

Just to let you know, I bought the 6kw heater you recommended, had it wired up to a new 30amp circuit, connected it with the hose I bought to the existing piping, switched it on and ...

...it works perfectly, heating the water quickly to a wonderful temperature so we love being in the pool much more often and longer.

Thanks for the advice, the supply of the equipment and a useful forum too.

Many thanks from Cairo.
