Hi All,

Our pool was already installed when we bought the house and the previous owner gave me all the details I needed to look after the pool. It's a small 3mx5m Cascade vinyl lined pool.

In particular, his recommended winterisation regime was to check ph, shock and then a few days later add winterisation fluid and run for another 24 hours or so. Then drain down sand filter, pump & heater and cover the whole pool with the winter cover and weigh down the edges with bricks. This completely seals the pool. All pretty straight forward and very successful. Rain water and debris collect on top of the cover which I occasionally siphon off but other than that I just forget about it until sping when I just remove the cover, give it a quick vaccum to remove a fine film of sediment that settles on the bottom of the pool and refill the filter/pump and heater pipework. No more than a couple of hours work.

The winter cover is a sheet of heavy duty vinyl. It appears to be actually two layers of vinyl laminated together. One side is a beige colour which I think is UV resistant type of vinyl. The other is black and goes face down over the pool to block out all light to the pool thus presumably to ensure I don't open a green pool the following year. The problem is that this cover is now reaching the end of it's life and I'd like to replace it but I haven't been able to find out what the cover is made of or identify someone who could supply me a new one. The only covers I have been able to find have not been light proof or have been of a net design which must mean the opening procedure involves a whole lot of messing about to deal with Algae and small debris. Can anyone tell me what these type of covers are called and where I might get a new one?

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

It sounds to me that you have an Above Ground Pool winter debris cover, which is fitted to an inground pool!
The covers which we sell for AGP's usually have a black underside, and a blue top, made from a tarpauline type material, which makes them waterproof, so the rain sits on top, and as you say, you syphon off the water when it gets to much. This link will take take you to our relevant page, and the size which might best suit is the 10' x 16' oval, but if you need any further advice, then just give me a call.

Hope this helps
All the best
