Hi, I'm a new owner of a 1000 litre spa.My 'starter kit' will shortly run out and I'm wondering if it's easier to maintain chlorine levels with a 'floater' and chlorine tablets, rather than using chlorine granules. If so, which strength of tablet, mini or maxi? I'm an arthritic taking immuno-supressing drugs and need to maintain the chlorine levels to guard me from 'bugs'!Oh, and thanks for the birthday greeting! Mike

Hi Mike

If you are happy using chlorine, I would recommend the Chlorine Smart Tabs (they are small) see http://www.ukpoolstore.co.uk/acatalog/spaguard-spa-chemicals.html (we run our spas on bromine) these can either go straight into the filter basket or a small tablet dispenser, see http://www.ukpoolstore.co.uk/acatalog/spa-fragrances.html.

Hope this helps.

be very careful with floating dispensers within spa as when the blower comes on and high boost (assuming you have second speed on your pump) during a filter purge cycle it has been known that the vigerous movement of water within the spa can cause the floating dispenser lid to open and drop tablets onto the spa floor leaving a stain
if its vital bugs are kept from your spa if you do not already have it how about retro fittings ozone?
also frog mineral purifcation this will help even more. :)
cheers rob

Bromine is used in spas because of the elevated temperature. Floating dispenser is ok as long as it's not a cheap version, look for *** made by what you see in the sky when it's raining and the sun is shining. Mr Moderator hope that's ok not to mention directly the name of the manufacturer :p
As you have challenges would suggest a feeder fitted to the spa system as a better alternative.
