I have to say that up till recently replies to my questions were good ,but can now see there are a lot of questions being posted and no one answering them.
This does seem to make the forum fairly pointless.
It doesn't make it pointless it makes us extremely busy !!!
This forum is provided as a FREE service where we endeavour to answer any questions posted, but it is also an open forum where all people are welcome to contribute their knowledge and help each other out.
If you have a specific question that requires a more timely response you can contact us directly.
Regards
Glan & the UKPOOLSTORE team.

Weird this,as my post was in reply to someone elses who was not happy their post had not received a reply, but never mind.
Glan,
I appreciate how busy your team are,and can only say that all my posts and calls have been answered promptly and good advice given
From my point of view your teams efforts on my behalf have been great,
and enabled me to successfully set up the 12ft splasher pool.
But let me explain why i said pointless, and I admit it pointless is too strong but, i work in the IT industry ,and if you set up a forum ,free or not and invite people to post questions ,then an expectation is set that answers will be given in a timely manner. This is unless the invitation to post questions at the start of the forum fully explains that it is as much to help each other as get answers from you guys ,and that if a timely response is needed then to call.
Again I would like to see this forum work,it is very useful (I couldn't have done without it)
Regards

I truly believe that this type of forum is so that members can try to help each other with maybe a little help or intervention from ukpools as appropriate
Other comments please !! is any one out there ?
Hi odbob,
Thanks for your perseverance last week with the technical glitches on the forum postings.
I am glad Maddie was able help you this week on the phone.
Thanks for your postings and I do appreciate that as a new forum member, you find it frustrating that your questions are not always answered straight away ( or sometimes not at all!)
Obviously most of our forum members are Summer season pool users. We see a vast difference in the traffic levels on our forum during ‘The Season’.
For ourselves, we do sadly sometimes have weekends off, this last one being my 40th Birthday weekend (obligatory headache to match), so I have not had a chance to reply to your most recent postings, but will do so once I have finished this posting.

Thanks Glan, But I was more concerned with the lack of cross pollination between members rather than answers directly from yourselves.
Mind you, whilst on the subject of questions and answers, maybe there should be another forum headed "ENERGY MATTERS" where questions on energy costs can be raised, I know that it is doubtful that you would ever see a sentence which included the words "environmently friendly" and "swimming pools" or at least not for the foreseeable future, but there are many ways in which pools can be designed/enjoyed without quite the adverse impact on the environment
What do you think
Hi Odbob,
It’s a very valid point (and judging by your email address, something you are professionally involved in):) . We are currently working on our spring 2008 newsletter which goes out to all our local domestic customers, and in that we are highlighting either energy saving products or water saving products. I will also be building this into icons on our website which will highlight any Environmental advantages a particular product will have over its competitors. Even if we all have differing views on Global warming, the cost of trying to run & heat a pool in 2008 will be some 25% more if the latest round of Gas & Electric price hikes are to be believed. I spent £1300 heating & running my outdoor pool last year, so I will be fitting a new range of solar panels to mine this year, and will be able to evaluate and report on any energy savings.
We will also be selling a new (Dyson style) Vortex device, which fits in between pump & filter, which removes via the process of centrifugal effect up to 80% of debris before it gets to the sand filter, which will dramatically reduce the need to backwash your filter. This should save a considerable amount of clean and heated pool water.

Thanks Glan, another prompt reply:)
You are right, well spotted, my interest is in energy saving and alternatives but am now well retired:D I am certainly not interested in saving energy by giving up on comfort and I do embrace all that modern living provides, hence my enclosed swimming pool that I designed and built some five years ago.
I like your ideas, and particularly like the vortex debris catcher but just thought it would be nice if people could use your forum to talk with each other on the various ways of ensuring that the energy that is being used for fun and exercise is not at the same time being wasted unnecessarily.
