how do I acid wash my pool. It is an indoor pool with a tiled mosaic floor and sides which have hard and rough white deposits. I have tried phosphoric acid but this does not seem to be shifting it.
Hi,
Sorry this has taken so long to reply to................seasonal pressures, and not exactly a usual request.
Ok in the good old days, we would grab a 25 litre drum of hydrochloric acid, normally 25% ish in concentration, and using a watering can, dose the pool with the acid to remove all of the scale.
This worked really well, but it wasn't so good for the groute, clothes or any metal fittings within 50m, not to mention our eyes & lungs, so now we avoid all forms of acid!
But you could use TA reducer, which comes in 5l containers, its generally classed as an inhibited(not so nasty) hydrochloirc acid, so it should do the job, but you must be very carefull to follow all the necessary health and safety procedures, as well as ensuring the fabric of your building, and its associate fittings are not damaged.
If it was me, I would call in your local pool company, and get their help. :)
Again sorry for the slow response.
All the best
Glan
