We have am 18 month old tiled pool at our house in Spain. We maintain the correct PH and Cl levels but have noticed a rough white deposit (possibly limescale) around the top of the pool. What can we use to remove the scale and as we live in a hard water area, is there anything we can add to the water to prevent it forming again.

Hi,
If you are sure that your pH and chlorine levels are fine, the next step is to check the calcium hardness and total alkalinity of your water.
The best way to achieve this is to get a local pool company to do a full chemical balance test on a sample of your pool water.

Thanks, we were able to buy a kit which tests TA and calcium levels and a goodness knows what else. I followed the instructions on the test kit and added a chemical bought locally to the water. Although the water went cloudy for a day or so it did the job as I was able to remove most of the scale with a nylon scourer before I had to come back to the UK.
