Swimming Pools are Awesome
If you own any kind of pool, then I guess this is something we can agree on.
Some pools, however, are definitely more awesome that others; perfectly sculpted things of beauty that you can witter away the hours enjoying, even from a far. There are many of them out there, but here are a few that truly stand out from the crowd!
The first on our list, is businessman Lev Leviev’s private pool. Lev reportedly spent close to $70,000,000 on his luxurious North London home, which includes this indoor pool. Coming lined with gold tiles, the pool also boasts full spa and sauna facilities and a retractable pool cover that turns the room into a ballroom!

Second is the pool found at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The Palace is part hotel and part royal residence; guests of the hotel are invited to swim in the pool, along with members of the royal family who reside in a private wing of the palace.
Umaid Bhawan Palace was built in 1943, took 15 years to complete and cost $225,000 (over $3,000,000 in today’s money) which seems a good price for what they got. The pool itself is nicknamed ‘The Zodiac’ as the bottom depicts the symbols of the zodiac. The walls and ceiling of the room are covered with thousands of 1 inch gold tiles.

At 10 times larger than the average backyard pool, the third on our list is the Kitchukov Family Pool in Gilbert Arizona. Taking 5 months to build and costing around $1,000,000, the pool is surrounded by fountains, waterfalls and even has its own water slide. It is surrounded by a variety of mood lights and palm trees making it seem like an island paradise.
The thing we like most about this pool is the touchscreen control system, accessible remotely from anywhere in the world. The makers of the pool, Red Rock Contractors, developed an iPhone app that enables the Kitchukov family to change the colour of the lights, warm up the Jacuzzi or adjust the temperature of the pool from anywhere in the world. Why they want or need to do this baffles us, but on a scale of one to ten this is cool factor 11!

No list about expensive pools without the obligatory celebrity pool. For us, there was only one choice for number four and that’s the pool found at the Miami home of Sylvester Stallone. Whilst it looks lovely, with the surrounding trees and decorative patterns, what makes this pool really special is the bronze ‘Rocky Balboa’ statue at the end.

It may be the last pool on the list, but it isn’t the least. Infinity pools always look amazing when they overlook endless seas, beaches and jungles. The city view from the edge of this pool in Singapore, however, is incredible. What better way to escape the stress and hectic city lifestyle than to sit back in a pool, soaking up the sun?
